I have to admit to having much the same reaction to this season. It's just left me completely flat. I don't get excited about it, or anticipate it, or look forward to it at all. I'm really only watching it to keep up with canon.
The continuous plot holes are so numerous and so egregious it's difficult to become absorbed by the story the way you could with RTD's Who. I get the distinct impression that it has once again become little more than a caraciture of itself. This ep seemed more like a bad soap opera to me.
Like you, if I look at it as a totally seperate show, I can just about tolerate it. Guess I can live with that.
