This is my favorite new icon, just so you know.  It's by shengirl.

Well, JeopardyFriendly did beta Hunger Moon for me, but she found a plot hole you could drive a truck through, so I'm in the midst of a vast rewrite.  Argh is not too strong a word.  And I don't think the smut is going to make it into this next chapter.  But Rose is still, I think, going to get tied up before this one is over.  Plus, I've been accused of rushing to the smut again.  *sighs*  I know she knows what she's talking about, but...*growls anyway*

We did a lot today.  Started with Tobias swim lesson, then went to the eye doctor so DH could have an exam, then he picked out glasses, then we went to the park and had a picnic lunch and then went for a hike through the park taking the low road trail.  Which is not a road at all, it's very much a trail, but we call it the low road because it branches and you can go up a hill to the high road trail or not.  They eventually meet back up again.  It's a nice walk, a little over a mile.

Afterwards we went to see FIL and he is looking so much better.  The swelling and water retention had really gone down now and his color is back to normal.  He looks weak and...smaller somehow than before.  But he's talking like normal, not like it tires him out to do so.  After that we went to pick up DH's glasses and then we went to Costco and bought a few things, loaded them into the cooler and then went back to the park and had a picnic dinner and took another hike, this time on the high road trail which is a tenth of a mile longer than the low road trail.  Then the kids gathered pine cones and played pooh sticks off the bridge over the creek while DH and I sat on a nearby bench talking.

It was a long day and I'm tired.  And out of shape.  We're trying to all get into shape since we've decided we will indeed be going to Disneyland in October.  We booked our hotel last night.  So we're going to be building up our walking muscles between now and then.  I'm up to a mile at a time right now, so doing a little over two was hard.  I used to be able to go three in an hour no problem.  We're trying to walk every night, weather permitting, at least on days we don't go to the park.  And we've got a treadmill for bad weather days.  Last time I went to Disney I ached after one day of walking and I do not want to go through that again.

Wow, You had a busy day. I am probably going to Disneyland in Oct. too. OF course, I live closer and go a little more frequently anyway. But I am not going again during summer. Too hot.
Glad to hear the FIL is doing better. Hope he continues to feel better.

I recently sent [livejournal.com profile] lillibetm3 back a chapter of her latest, basically telling her to "Rework the top 6 paragraphs or so, plz." Felt bad about it, but she got back to me, telling me that she'd been unhappy with the chapter, and I put my finger on the problem. I've had it happen to me, too. One of my old BtVS betas made me scrap a whole scene, and he was right to do so. That's what the betas are for!

I'm glad to hear your FIL is doing better. It's always so hard to have a family member in the hospital. A year ago, it was my dad, recovering from cardiac arrest. Never, ever want to go through that again.

That's a shame but at least there is a good reason for the wait.

That's so good about FL - when my grandfather was very il nad almost died he looks so very small too. He had (has) herat troubles).

Disneyland you lucky son of gun. I fear I'll never - I'm the only one in my family that loves hights and fast rides. Plus there the whole you know money thing, living in Canada thing and living ona farm with animals you can't really leave... yeah not getting there any time soon. It's great your going though.:D

Yep, really busy. Love the icon. *grins* I will never go during the summer. I went twice as a child in the summer and I burned badly both times on the first day. We didn't have sunscreen back then of if we did I didn't know about it and my parents certainly didn't bother with it. I was miserable the whole time. We usually go in January but the last two times we got rained on so badly we decided to shift it this time.,

FIL is continuing to do better. Thanks.

Yeah, my beta was right, too. She always is. That's what's annoying. *grins* Nah, she's great and I love her to bits and she knows what she's doing so I gave in and redid it, and you know what? It's waaaaaaaay better now.

Yep. It's weird how they shrink, isn't it?

I went a couple of times as a little kid but I didn't go as an adult until my honeymoon. I think I had more fun as a grown up. I hope you make it there some day. It's a blast.

Oh, I love it. I can't stress that enough. It's my icon for commenting on other people's smut from now on! Unless you make something else I like better in the future.
