FIL Update and Story Updates

FIL got taken out of ICU and moved to the regular part of the hospital today. He's down to 4 IV's now. The procedure last night drained 2 liters of fluid from his lungs. 2 liters! I thought my husband was mistaken when he told me a liter from each lung, figured he had to mean just one liter, but when I talked to my MIL today she confirmed it was 2. I knew he looked puffy when I saw him, but that's crazy. They still don't know if he'll be able to keep the kidney, but so far it's staying put so that's something.
As for my stories, I worked on several of them today. I added 200 more words to chapter 30 of Vortex. I wish that one weren't being so stubborn, I want to finish it, but it is resisting rather mightily. I wrote about 500 words on You're What? and a smut scene for Hunger Moon that isn't in the next chapter, but it wanted to be written. And 700 words on Pushing the Boundaries, which is the Ten/Donna POV fic of what happens in chapter one of The Boundaries of Consent. The bunnies were a little impatient, but it's going to be a while for that one. It's not my primary focus and it's coming in fits and starts anyway.
I may or may not get the next chapter of You're What? back from my beta tonight. JeopardyFriendly is officially over the stomach virus but she's ramping up slowly. Least she has a couple days before summer session at the university starts.
Twenty more days until the kids go to camp. It's only for a week. That's all we could afford this year, since we're saving up to go to Disneyland. This is the only camp that offered 3rd-8th grades the same week. Not that they'll be in the same program, they'll just be on the same grounds. Next year they'll be able to go at the same time, too, but then after that Rose will be going into high school (eep!), and this camp doesn't go up that high. A lot of the camps will do 3rd-5th one week and 6th-8th another week and that does me no good if I want them off at the same time.
If Tobias likes this camp, I can send him to it in two years and Rose to a different one that takes place at the same time, I suppose. He has to be going into 4th grade to attend any of the 8 weeks offered, going into 3rd he only has the choice of two weeks. It's a pain. It feels so young for him to be going to camp, but I started the year before 3rd grade and I loved it, so I suppose it'll be okay. I think I still think of him as my baby, and he's nowhere near as mature as his sister, or I, was at this age. But he makes friends easily so, yeah, he'll be fine.

Date: 2008-06-18 12:20 am (UTC)I forgot that camp doesn't stay camp for high schoolers. But if she likes it, couldn't she be a camp counselor? Or do they not do that anymore? (It being...oh, jeez, a good fifteen years since I went to camp. Closer to twenty, come to think of it...egad, now I feel old.)

Date: 2008-06-18 02:09 am (UTC)Yay for camp! Don't know what I'd do without it! And I hope the Disneyland trip comes off. I've never been there, but we live close to DisneyWORLD which I guess is about the same thing.
Can't wait for more fic but obviously family comes first.
BTW, quick question. I know you've been reposting the Time Eternal stories here on your LJ. Is there any difference from what's on Teaspoon?

Date: 2008-06-18 02:16 am (UTC)Hooray for camp!! My folks couldn't afford camp for 5 (yep; five of us!) kids, so they shipped us off in batches to stay with relatives for a few days. Actually, it was kinda fun!
Disneyland will be a blast. Haven't gone in several years, but I used to go a couple times a year. It IS expensive, isn't it? Do you have a discount card? The auto club also has a special deal, I believe.
Thanks for the fic update, too. Can't believe you're still whipping out the words, with all the pressure you've been under. Hang in there, we're all rooting for you!
*Hugs*

Date: 2008-06-18 02:00 pm (UTC)I know it sounds crazy! It was about the same amount of fluid they drained from the lungs of my grandfather, when he was in hospital several years ago.
I hope your FIL gets better soon. All my best to you!
