Well, I've got most of chapter twenty-six of Leap of Faith finished, but not quite.  I was hoping to send it off to beta today and get it posted but that was a little too optimistic of me, I think.  Still, it's going well, so hopefully I'll finish it up tomorrow.

I went to the gym today.  I did a half mile on the treadmill, but my knee really didn't like the unforgiving surface so I think that kind of walking is out for me.  I'll try the elliptical or one of the bikes next.  I went to the adult lap swim.  I had to wait about fifteen minutes in the hot tub (oh, the agony!) for the pool to clear out enough for me to swim, though.  I was surprised at how many people were swimming laps.  Well, I should say how many people were in the pool.  Some of them were NOT swimming laps and there was no life guard on duty then to enforce it.  One lady was just bobbing up and down and one guy was floating with the children's floating noodles.  I mean, come on.  That's just not what LAP SWIM is for.  The title is pretty self-explanatory.  There was also a lot of swim one length of the pool and then rest for five minutes.  I mean, what's the point of that?  No cardio at all if you rest that long between lengths.  There was only one guy in there that did any serious laps at all.  Am I pool snob?  I don't know.  I just don't like it when people play or goof off during lap swim when I'm there to seriously exercise.  I'll reserve a lane if I go at that time of day again.

But I did get a lane eventually and I swam 30 laps.  Without stopping except to fix my goggles every few laps because they were all foggy.  I still wanted to do more, but time was short and we needed to get back home in time for T getting back from school.  As long as I swim my 1/2 mile I'm happy and I did more than that, so it's all good.  We'll swim again tomorrow.  I think I'll go to the early lap swim and then the kids want to go to the family swim after school, so I'll go again then and decide if I want to do laps or not again.  It will depend on my energy levels.  If swimming is all I can do, than I want to do as much of it as I can.

You are such a pool snob! *snickers* Thirty laps? Go you! I love to swim but I'm not a strong enough swimmer to pull off laps like that.

The folks who don't swim laps usually can't, but prefer lap swim for the same reasons you do. The noodles and bobbing are used by the arthritis classes to encourage low - impact muscle work. Or they might just be lazy.

You are going great guns on your swimming I thought I was being good on Saturday swimming 10!! (I will admit to only recently learning how to swim so that's good for me at the moment) although I am aiming for 12 this week.

Keep it up and we'll both be healthier soon xx

I could never get the whole turn your head and breathe thing. I doubt I'd manage one complete lap.

Good for you!

The best way to keep goggles unfogged is to use dishwashing soap, but just rinse it off good--don't use fingers. That'll be defeating the purpose. Keep up the good work! I'd done laps in the Y pool, but it costs too much to go nowadays, and my enthusiasm for it has waned big time--especially cuz I can see myself in a swimsuit. :(

Yeah, I think I'm just grumpy when people don't really seem to be exercising and I want to seriously be doing it.

Thanks. Well, when I started I was only doing six, so I've come a long way in a couple of months. Ten is great, especially for a new swimmer. Keep at it.

Well, I started lessons when I was four so it is fairly automatic for me. That helps.

Thank you so much. This works so well. I've not had to pause to defog them since I started using this trick.
