Anyone else having weird people they've never seen before leaving random messages on their LJ lately?  I'm not talking Russian spambots, even.  I had a few in the past days, with accounts created on the same day in August, no entries, no friends, leaving random Harry Potter references (not even close to being my fandom) or just blathering about their life in general in the comments on my Masterfic List sticky post.  I'm assuming it's random spammers and dealt with it accordingly by banning and deleting as spam.  Just wondering if it is just me or if it's something going around?

It maybe facebook users who are more or less 'sponsered' users now trolling.

Also some of the staff in the latest news post were using sockpuppets to troll users and basically shout down those who thought the 'compromise' LJ proposed it was planning to the LJ/FB/Twitter Twatter x-post mess wasn't going nearly far enough.

Not here, no. Of course, I've only been here for, what, less than a month? Still so new I squeak. :D But there's been a definite uptick in random FB friend requests. Honestly, if it wasn't the easiest way to keep up with my son, I would probably shut that account down.

Sorry you're having to deal with the idiots, sweetie. I haven't had the displeasure myself yet. Idiots like that just shouldn't be allowed access to technology (or polite society).

I didn't realize there had been such a controversy over the LJ/FB/TW mess. Now I'm glad I deactivated my FB when I heard about it.

I was guided here bywendymr because I just posted asking this very same question. I've had two, so far.

They're really odd - not graphic or anything, like most trolls are. I had one randomly commeting about music, and the other was just a random collection of words.

One was left on the most recent prompt on never_ever_will. Not sure what that's about. Something about <3 me and sarahloveshp. *shrug* It gave me a laugh after I got of the initial "WTF?" moment.

I had a comment posted to my Friends Only post yesterday that said "LOL FAIL." O_O I thought it was just a comment about my personality or something until I noticed that in the email notification I'd received for it, it was full of links in Russian/similar language (I don't know my Cyrillic languages well, sorry). Just by hovering my cursor over them, I could read that they were all porn links. *shakes head* So I just assumed the entire thing was a spam post and reported it as such.

I actually felt better knowing it was a spam post rather than somebody laughing and pointing at me, lol! ;)

Yeah, mine were completely clean, just totally didn't have anything to do with me or my stories or fandoms or anything. Very weird and out of the blue. I guess it's just going around a bit.

Could be, but these accounts were all created on August 25 and 26 which was before all that happened. Seems odd that it would be related to that.

Maybe with Doctor/Rose fans, but I've had nothing to do with the HP fandom. Most I've done was read the books and watch the first five movies. Nothing I do should even attract HP fans who aren't DW fans. It's weird.

I barely use my FB anyway and I will never have that annoying Twitter thing. I'm happy with my LJ as it is. I just don't want to spend maintenance time stomping on spam bots and trolls.

I just got one today from some user called madooreo. They left some silly comment about Severus it in a recent drabble I did. Thats the first time I've ever had this. Stupid idiots. I too banned them and deleted it as spam.
