amberfocus: (Leap of Faith Icon--Do Not Take)
[personal profile] amberfocus
Well, I was hoping to have finished chapter 22 of Leap of Faith tonight, but not quite.  It stands at about 3500 words, so it's pretty close, but I need to add in a scene with Tosh and Owen, I think, to round things out more, so I'll work on that in the morning.  Either that or another Jackie and Pete scene or possibly a Pete, Jake, Mickey, and Ianto scene.  I've got a lot of stuff coming up and I'm just still trying to wiggle things around so they fall correctly.  I've introduced a new character which is also an old character and I hope that certain things will come as a surprise to people.  You ever have one of those things where you just desperately hope that no one has put two and two together until you actually reveal it?  And you're all nervous anticipation until you pull it off?  I used to be so good at doing the unexpected, but lately...oh, I don't know.  At least I'm writing, right?  Plus, another reoccuring new character that Rose has a bad history with.

I also made a banner for Pride.  Yes, [livejournal.com profile] azriona, I've started working on Pride, the next MiD fic. *covers ears at the squealing heard all the way over here on the west coast*  Which is probably why I'm a bit distracted from finishing this chapter of Leap of Faith.  Why do all the plot bunnies come at once after a drought?  I'd much rather a slow and steady trickle.  I need to make an icon for Moments in Darkness.  Why, yes, there I go procrastinating yet again.  Although I probably should just go to bed.  I think they're finally done letting off fireworks now.  It helps that they sky opened up and started pouring at eleven p.m.  Rain does have it's uses, though quite frankly, I'm getting tired of waiting for summer to start.

I watched New Moon.  Yes, I know, but I have a thirteen year old daughter.  I have an excuse.  Bella is an idiot.  Edward is a twat.  Can I have a Jacob of my own?  Preferrably the pretty doggy version they used for his werewolf scenes?  Dakota Fanning can be very creepy.  Who'da thunk it?  On the bright side I loved every single preview on the DVD so it was worth watching it just for that.  Also streamed a very interesting Bruce Willis sci-fi movie on Netflix called Surrogates.  I could really feel my mind going places thinking what a great basic premise that would be for a Who story.  Not one of mine, but one for Victoria's Forever series.  It would be a perfect Eight/Rose adventure.  Or I don't know, maybe it would make a good Better With You story.  But first I've got to finish a lot of other things.  And she's got to finish Forever's Just a Word. *pokes [livejournal.com profile] jeprdyfrndly*

We had fun letting off fireworks tonight.  We bought just under $100 worth.  Way less than usual, but my knee still isn't good enough to light fireworks and then run away, even with as much improvement as there has been.  And Chris is in Alaska, so mostly we did fountains and then one really great one that sent up 16 big ones.  I like that because you only have to light it once.  I sort of wish I'd skipped the fountains and spent the money on two more of the bigger ones.  Probably will next year.  A lot of the neighbors were letting them off, too, so we got to watch all of those and then at 10:30 we moved the camp chairs to the end of the driveway and watched the city fireworks going off over the Bay.  There was a lot of company as part of the neighborhood came down and stood in the street nearby.  We really do have a fabulous view here.  Well, I suppose I've rambled on enough for one night.  [info]amyo67,  if you are going to be around tomorrow I hope to catch you on chat.  I'm getting fed up with continually missing each other.  *hugs*

I loathe Twilight. I hate it even more after being forced to see Eclipse yesterday.

I look forward to more Leap of Faith.

Glad you had a good holiday!

I love neighborhood fireworks. My brother and his neighbor had each bought a bunch so we sat on brother's dock while they lit them from the neighbor's dock, and at the same time 5 docks down another neighbor was setting some off, with a lot of good natured trash talk going back and forth. And then on the far side of the lake we could just catch one of the town's displays. All without leaving the comfort of home and a convenient bathroom.

Yay for more LoF. You make me curious about the new old character...

Oh, and even more yay for Pride! Although I don't think my scream carried over the Atlantic and the whole continent over to the west coast ;-)

I should be here all day, I think. Right now I am on watch as Brendan's nurse attempts to bring his 103 temp down. She was able to bring it back to 100 with a bath and we've started him on pedialyte.

The only way I won't be here is if he has to go to the ER, and then I might bring my laptop, because our hospital has wi-fi. Although, I'm not sure if you have to be admitted for that or not, but I also have my phone which gets mobile IM.

I tried you last night, but I think you must have been out doing fireworks.

I miss chatting with you too, it feels like forever.

Waiting eagerly for more Leap, but wouldn't quibble with MiD!
I did see the first Twilight movie. I can only assume the books were (are) better. I may have to see the current one just so I'll know what's what.
Have you seen Eccleston's "Lennon Naked"? I thought it was excellent. No one does repressed emotions better!. Plus, he looks way better than expected in the buff. Yummy, even.

Ooooo, looking forward to the new chapter!
And, I would have to say, I agree with your assessment of Bella and Edward. Watching the movie annoyed me enough, but the idiocy displayed in the book was enough to make me want to throw it against the wall and then burn it. But it was a library copy, so I couldn't do that... ;P
And your 4th of July sounds fun. I can't even remember the last time we set off fireworks. This year, my parents went to bed early, and I spent the rest of the night watching the last three episodes of Torchwood Series 3.

Ah, you succumbed to the temptation to see what all the fuss was about too? Yeah, I had much the same reaction to the book. I wanted to smack Edward for being a condescending, arrogant stalker, and I wanted to smack Bella for thinking this was okay because he's so preeeetttyyyOMG!!!

If you haven't yet, check out the RiffTrax version of the first two Twilight movies. It's done by the same folks who did Mystery Science Theater 3000 and has much of the wit of the show (minus the silouhettes in the corner). You'll be laughing!
