Got almost sniffly from all the sadness. But bravo for Nine for realizing she loves him; bravo for him pausing in his exploration of her body, realizing she doesn't want him right that moment, that there is still more damage for him to undo. And bravo for him giving her her key, staying until morning. His job from now on will be to reassure her that he will be there, that he loves her, that she can't make him leave her.
(And then of course he does, in PoTW ... sniffle.)
