Well, the question first.  I haven't been on LJ in a few days because I've had the stomach virus to end all stomach viruses, but anyway, I came back to a couple of noms in my inbox from an awards site I've never heard of or seen anything about.  It's called Words on the Wind and seems to represent a broad spectrum of supernatural/sci-fi/fantasy fanfiction.  Has anyone heard of this or know anything about it?  I'm just curious as it appears to be quite new.

As for the knee, I've got good news and bad news.  The bad news is I still have to have surgery on it, but the good news is that the specialist says it is not an ACL tear, my GP read it wrong.  It's a torn miniscus which is much easier to repair and doesn't require taking part of the pateller tendon for the repair.  So they are going to go in and just cut off the part that is torn and remove some cartilege or bone that has broken off and is in there as well, and there's some kind of cyst that will come out, too.  I'll be laid up in bed for four to five days and should be walking without crutches in a week.  They reckon 2 to 3 weeks after that it should be pretty much normal (for walking at least, be a while before I can ride my bicycle again, but I don't do that in the winter anyway).

I'm just waiting to hear back from the surgeon's office for scheduling.

Several people in the fandom have been nominated. Looks like a new awards site. :) Congrats!

I would take an LM tear over an ACL tear any day of the week. Well, actually I'd take none at all, but lesser of two weevels and all that. :/

I found a nomination this morning myself. I don't get them very often, so I'm going to take 'em when I do - but yeah, I know next to nothing about the site. I'm not overly worried about it.

Thank God the knee thing isn't as serious as previously thought! That's definitely preferable to a torn ACL. Heck even a broken leg is better than a torn ACL...
Anyways, congrats on the nominations!

Yay for good news!

Best of luck with the knee, not having a torn ACL is certainly much better, and it's probably better for your body to get the loose material that's floating in your knee before it scrapes away in there too much.

I'm glad to hear the knee wasn't as bad as initially thought. I miss chatting with you. Hope you feel better soon

Oh god, a stomach virus on top of all that? D: I'm so sorry! The BRAT died isn't exactly the best comfort food when you're in pain... not that you have an appetite for much else when sick like that, I guess.

I'm glad things are looking up, though. Sit back and have a tummy-helping yogurt to celebrate. The Yoplait fat free raspberry cheesecake flavor is delicious; I recommend it.

Thank you. Yeah, it seems to be the better of the two injuries. I hope that means I'll bounce back a lot faster.

I wasn't worried so much as curious as to where they came from. There's been no buzz and no pimping.

Yeah, I don't do things by half. But at least the stomach virus is over now. BRAT wasn't even possible for me. Basically all I ate was toast because the idea of anything else was too much.

Good luck with the knee. I find crutches are very useful for tripping people, poking elevator buttons, whacking "door open" buttons, and so on. :-)
