So anyway, back from Disneyland as of late Saturday night and it took more time to recover than I expected.  Most of this being due to the fact that I had a pretty bad injury to my knee.  I'm still not sure what.  I go into the doctor (will I never stop capitalizing that the first time?) tomorrow and will probably have an x-ray.  But we still had a great time, just the injury meant renting a scooter for the last two days we were there.  Turned out to be a pretty great way to do Disney because you can skip almost every line.  Not, of course, California Screamin', the Haunted House or Toy Story Mania, but everything else we wanted to do again, we got to use the pass that comes with renting a scooter.  And waiting in line on a scooter?  Not a bad thing.

Yes, it was probably kind of stupid to keep going on the more abrasive rides after hurting myself, but you know those park hoppers don't come cheap and with enough Motrin and ice I was doing pretty okay.  Yeah, but not so much now.  I can't get my knee to lock at all when I stand which means I can't put full body weight on it.  I borrowed my dad's cane from when he broke his ankle playing baseball years and years and years ago (I was a teenager, so yeah).  I think the knee cap is dislocated.  This isn't the first time it's happened, the first time was with an injury when I was nine 30 years ago.  Usually I can get it to pop back into place, but no go this time.  It's pretty swollen.

Chris and I had so much fun though.  We really did, despite the pain.  It was great being child free even if I missed them.  It was lovely having adult conversations (and sometimes childish ones, too!) without being constantly interupted.  It was great holding hands with my husband instead of with my son.  It was lovely having couple time, just being together.   And it was fun having fun, you know?

It was all decked out for Halloween and the decorations were pretty amazing.  Chris took some photos so hopefully I'll get them transferred to photobucket soon and can post some of them.  Space Mountain was changed completely into the Ghost Galaxy.  They projected a fiery skeletal alien type creature all over the inside instead of the usual nebulae and whatnot.  Sometimes it would reach out and grab at you.  It was pretty cool.  We did that one several times before I got hurt, but only once after.  Getting back to the scooter and wheelchair line was really hard so we didn't do it again after that.

The Haunted House was all done up with The Nightmare Before Christmas theme.  I don't care much for Jack Skelington and that lot or the dayglo orange inside, but the elevator that takes you into the mansion proper was very well done and so was the entryway where you walk to the conveyor belt and the buggies you ride in, too.  Chris said it used to be better, not so dayglo the last time he saw it (right after New Year's when we had the kids with us and he went in alone).  He thought they'd really gone overkill with the coloring.

California Adventure was decorated with giant candy corn and instead of playing the usual California beach songs was playing candy themed songs like Good Ship Lollipop and I Want Candy.  It was actually a nice change because I get pretty sick of the same six beach songs (it seems) over and over.  There seemed to be more variety with the candy themed songs.  We didn't do the after hours trick or treat party.  I just didn't have it in me after getting hurt and we figured the first few days we'd do it Thursday or Friday so it just didn't work out.

I saw Amy there on Tuesday and we got to hang out together with her mom and son for a few hours.  That was great.  This is the second time I've gotten to meet up with Amy and we just get on like crazy.  Makes me really wish we lived closer, though Chris would probably wilt in the hotter CA temps in the summer time.  He likes to claim his brain works like a computer, if it overheats too much it shuts down.  He's like the trolls in Discworld. *laughs*

Anyway, we're back into the routine already now that we are home.  The kids did their homeschool lessons no problem today which was really great.  And Chris goes back to Alaska tomorrow night so I'm going to have to drive home.  Fortunately it isn't my driving leg that got hurt.  Still, I plan to go out as little as possible because being in the car (we drove home from SeaTac) is still not very comfortable and I prefer to keep the knee elevated.  I haven't quite finished the final chapter of The Boundaries of Temptation.  I'm not sure I like it for this chapter.  I might like it better as part of The Boundaries of Desire.  I'm thinking for a bit.  Hopefully I'll have it done by Wednesday.  And hopefully I'll get to the reviews tomorrow night.

Missed you all while I was gone and it's great to be back.
