Am Annoyed and Story Updates

If you're waiting up for me to post Nine!fic tonight, go to sleep.  It ain't happening.  Tomorrow there will be something, but not tonight.  I am having a bit of a crappy day today.  Mostly because somebody cut the paint on our new car.   We haven't even had it a month yet.  There is a perfectly straight line across the hood and down one side to the tire.  I mean the line is perfectly straight, this wasn't a random keying thing, this was a very deliberate and precise act.  Like box cutter and a ruler precise or garot wire with two people standing on either side of the car and just bringing it down and slicing through the paint.  It's too perfect.  You can't really see it unless you're standing right there, but I know it wasn't there this morning when I took the kids to school this morning and it was there when I went out to pick them up from school, which means it happened between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., when I was home.  In my driveway.  I'm thinking it probably happened after 2:30 when the junior/senior high school bus came, but before I left.

I can't fathom adults doing something like that in broad daylight.  At night when they're unlikely to be caught, yeah.  That's why I'm thinking kids.  It just makes me sad and annoyed.  I'm 38 years old, this is the first time in our lives that we've bought a brand new car instead of a used one, and 3 and a half weeks later someone decides to hurt it.  What is up with people like that?  I've never had anyone touch one of ours cars in the ten years we've lived here.  I've only had one property crime the entire time we've lived here when someone stole hanging ball Christmas lights out of one of our apple trees a couple years ago when the county paper published our address on a list of houses to see for lights.  It's not like anyone out here holds a grudge against us, we're quiet, keep the yard neat and clean, don't bug our neighbors but are pleasant with them all and are homebodies.  Another reason why I'm thinking kids.  Which really bothers me because I know most of the kids out here by sight, some by name, most wave hello and chat a bit, and I hate thinking it's someone from around here.  They're mostly good kids.  I tried calling DH up at work but he's not answering his phone.  So he'll have a lovely message in his voice mail.

I'll report it to the sheriff tomorrow when I drop the kids off at school.  The station is across the street in the firehall.  There's nothing they can do about it, but they like to keep track of property crimes and if there's a trend starting they'll send a car around more frequently.  Just really kind of bummed and not much in the mood to write, so taking the day off from it.  I did tweak and update a bit and posted two chapters of A Place in Time though.  And of course, the banners.

*hugs* I don't know why people (adults or kids) do something like that. Maybe it was random, maybe it was the wrong house(car) or maybe some one is just doing it for kicks and is an idiot.

I just don't understand why people do things like that. It's like, they're jealous of someone else having nice things and so they have to go out and ruin it for them to make everyone else as miserable as they are. Its just not right!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to your car and I hope whoever did it gets what's coming to them (or at least feels so guilty about what he/she did that he/she confesses and pays to repair the damage).

Sorry for the stress - for stress relief (when good old fashioned violence is not a viable alternative) I recommend a large glass of wine or something else highly alcoholic followed by a large amount of fic therapy - in other words, relax, chill out, and immerse yourself in the goodness that is the Whoniverse. *hands you cookies* Not much comfort, but maybe they will go with your chips and salsa. I hate that they ruined your day and hurt your car, but the worst thing is that they made you uncomfortable with the kids you see every day. But I am sure you are right, & mostly they are good kids. And usually what goes around comes around. You are such a sweet person, I am sure more good things will come your way after this.

I'm really sorry this happened. The Way of Things is a very good distraction! I use it too. (As well as all of your fic..just in case you I haven't actually told you that before.) If the scratch isn't deep, perhaps you can buff it our yourselves?

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I don't understand some people. It's scary sometimes the amount of younger people are being raised without being taught proper respect and courtesy.

I love your icon, though. Hope today is better. I know what you mean about the alcohol. I have the same reaction. Actually, I have never really like the taste that much, but now that I am on blood pressure medication it just doesn't seem to mix. Give me a big soda and I am a happy camper.

Oh, there is nothing more frustrating than pointless vandalism. Much, much empathy, and virtual salsa (I make really good guacamole, too).

I went through a patch a few years back where a bunch of local kids were constantly vandalizing my vehicles (it had to be them, not because they knew me, which they didn't, but because of where my house/driveway was was too accessible to the local estate, which was pretty notorious). I lost a car and two motorcycles that way. In addition to losing my mode of transportation, I was furious because they didn't even steal anything to get around in, it was mindless destruction. It's one of the reasons I actually left England to come back to the US for a while!

Ugh. That's awful and I'm sorry. I had my car keyed, but it wasn't new and was definitely a random act, as it happened in a parking garage, and somehow that makes it a bit easier to take. But why must so many people be so obnoxious?

Thank you. The dealership says it's fixable. I'm really glad we got the paint protect package now. No out of pocket to fix it. So that's a blessing. *smiles*

I have high blood pressure, too and when I developed it, that's right around when I couldn't drink anymore. Not that I ever really could because I could get drunk on half a mixed drink I'm such a lightweight and I hate being stupid. I don't lose my inhibitions, I just get stupid. Don't care for it much anyway, always had to dump copious amounts of fruity surgary junk in with it to stand it. Not a real loss to my life. I'd rather have a Pepsi.

It just makes me feel nervous. The car has an alarm system, but it only goes off if you try to break into the hood, hatchback, or door locks or try to start the car without the key. It's not one of the annoying ones that goes off if you just touch the car. That seemed like a good thing. But the dealership says it's fixable and we have the paint protect package, so no out of pocket money to do it. That's something.

Wow, I'm glad I don't have to deal with that sort of vandalism! That would really hurt. I just wish I had a garage, but we'd have to take out the side yard garden to build one. I'm seriously thinking we should add a carport on to the house now, make it harder for this sort of thing to happen.

Just wish I could track them down and vanquish them. Or something.

Whew! That's lucky. It is something, at least.

The vandalism I experienced was definitely about the worst period in my life because of the financial strain, the practicalities, and also just the way it made me feel. These little brats blew up my car (they could do that because I lived on an end near the part, and the driveway was actually some distance from the house, so it was relatively "safe" for them to do that), then stole the first motorcycle and just bashed it to bits because they could. I had very disturbing, violent dreams about what I would do to them if I found them. Grrrrrrr.

I had an incredibly vivid dream of catching the kid (the police knew who he was, they just couldn't catch him at it - he was 14) and slamming his head against my brick garden wall. It was really disturbing...in part because it was so cathartic. I abhor violence, and that's what he brought me to. Very upsetting.

This is one of my favourite icons, and I never have found out who made it, but no one has ever come forward to claim it, either. It's just too good not to use. I like your spirograph stars, too!

*hugs* I know that I'm posting a month after this happened, but damn, it's just a shame. I hope that the dealership or your insurance took care of it. However, it's the principle of the thing. There's good people out there, but there's too many sick ones. :(

Yeah, it was taken care of at no cost to us, because we had a paint maintenance warranty. They fixed it easily. Thanks.
