Beyond the Time Barrier is a black and white movie made in 1960.  I'm not really sure this movie constitutes a zombie movie and how much of it is really just post-apocalyptic plague movie with mutants.  I don't think it really qualifies as a zombie movie at all really despite it coming up in the search as one.  The premise had me a little wary.  Basically it's an air force pilot testing a new plane who breaks the time barrier and ends up in 2024 in a devastated world.  There are two factions of people left, the first stage mutants who are deaf and mute but look completely normal and the second or further along stage mutants who want to kill all the first stage ones because the keep them locked up and keep all the best things for themselves, food, shelter, space, etc.  The daughter of the supreme leader is conveniently telepathic...and the last fertile female alive.  So of course they want Mr. Astronaut person to mate with her and see if they can make the babies.

Yeah...not so much.  In fact I found myself having uncharitable (and probably partially unfounded considering Amy, River, and Reinette are all strong women, but it's how he talks) thoughts towards Mr. Moffat, thinking that would be his perfect female.  Sexy, shows lots of leg, needs sex to carry on the race, can't speak her mind but can read his and try to make him happy.  Can you say Stepford Wife?  Okay, she had more personality than that and fortunately Mr. Astronaut was a better man than that, though there were a couple of serious kisses, which considering they barely knew each other was kind of odd.  Anyway, everyone dies and he makes it back to the past, with the plan to prevent the plague from ever happening, but he's aged those 64 years.  Which he didn't going into the future so it makes little sense he would going back into the past.  But that wasn't the only sketchy science so I let it pass.  It ended without letting the viewer know whether or not they succeeded in preventing the plague or not, though.  It just kind of...ends.

The special effects are about what you'd expect.  Awful, laughable, silly.  They may as well have put the model airplane on a stick and jumped it across the photograph of the stars.  And the citidel itself where the people lived was a very obvious matte painting.  It was worse than early Who special effects.  And for some reason that is never explained, everything was triangular, the cameras, the windows, and most of the walkways.  Except the bed and the swimming pool.  Didn't explain that at all.

On the bright side the lead male was very pretty to look at.  As I've said before, I can forgive a movie for a lot if the leads are pretty, but I definitely would not watch it again or probably even rec it to anyone.  Hopefully next week I can find a better movie.
