Update on my FIL and My Stories
Jun. 10th, 2008 10:56 pmMy brain has obviously been scattered these last two days. My FIL is back in surgery tonight, this time on his leg. The torn thoracic artery did something to the circulation in one of his legs, on the same side that affected his kidney. So they are doing a surgery to try to restore some of the circulation. If it fails, he may end up losing his leg. This is really kind of scary. They aren't worried for his life at this point anymore, which is good, but FIL is a very active man and I can't even imagine what it'd do to him to lose his leg. This is so hard on my MIL. She's got a lot of people around her right now. I just wish I could be one of them. It's hard being so helpless. But with so much illness in my house right now I can't be around an ICU patient anyway. Still.
When DH comes home he is going in for a physical. It's been years since he's had one, maybe a decade, and I'm making him go. High blood pressure and diabetes both run in his family, so it's well past time he get in there. We're also upping our life insurance and maybe looking into disability. This has been a major wake up call. I want my family protected if anything like this happens to me or DH.
I've spent a little time writing but not much. It's an escape valve for me, normally, but right now it's hard to stay in that place that I go to when I write. Been thinking out plotty bits, just not really writing much down. My beta is still sick anyway, my back up beta is still slow. There are some chapters with her, but no guarantees on when I'll get them back.
Thanks everyone who's sent me hugs and sympathy about FIL and is praying for him. I appreciate it so much.
