One of the differences I think between this Nine and the other is his willingness to be open and honest with Rose, to expose himself that way and not close off with her. And she's grown up so much that she tries not to hide how she feels either. Of course, with the situation they are in, without frank discussions they'd be in a lot of trouble. Glad you like how it's going.
