Green-Eyed
This feeling is frightening in its intensity. He feels it pouring through his veins like quicksilver, a poison threatening to consume everything as it races through him, his hearts becoming ice. He strides through the gala, his eyes on Rose and only Rose. His hand finds her wrist, pulling her away from her dance partner. She twirls to see who has her, a sharp retort at the ready. It dies on her lips as she meets his eyes.
“You were supposed to wait for me,” he growls in her ear.
“I did,” she says. “For five and a half hours.”
