Not Fair! Writer's Block...Sort Of

I've got freaking writer's block on the last chapter, or what I'm assuming is the last chapter, of Wolf Moon.  Argh!  I've been trying all day and it just doesn't want to come out right.  *sighs* *thumps bed*  On the bright side I have the first 610 words of Hunger Moon written.  Opens with the TARDIS' POV.  Don't appear to have writer's block on that one.  I'm tempted to work on some more crack!fic.  I've got a Jack, Donna, Ten in the works and usually it's stubborn, but since the normally easy Wolf Moon is being a bear, maybe the crack!fic will work this time?  I don't know.

School's out in an hour and a half and then it's off to town to see the chiropractor for my shoulder, gas up at Costco, grab dinner and then back to the soccer practice fields.  And tonight is American Idol, so I know I won't be sitting around writing then.  Well, I do tend to write during the commercials if I'm in a groove, but I'm so not today.

I'm wondering if part of this block is that I simply don't want to see Wolf Moon come to an end?  I know that's utterly silly, but I wouldn't put it past me.

I've been doing my Romana research for book 8 in the Better with You series.  I watched Ribos Operation over the course of the last few days.  I know it's not the version of Romana I'm using, but I thought I'd go back to the beginning and see what aspects of her personality carry over anyway.  I know there is a Romana 3 from the books, but I'm going to ignore that because there is just no way I am going to do all of that research, too.  I'd have to buy the books, not just rent eppies from Netflix.  And I like Romana 2, she works best in the series with the whole frilly pink thing.

I've been reading Lungbarrow off the BBC/Doctor Who website.  It's weird.

Suppose I'm procratinating now.  Time to go bang my head against the Wolf Moon wall again.  Or maybe I should write a chapter of Repercussions.  *growls at self*

No, that makes total sense to me. I've had the same trouble before, when I don't want to end a story, so I declare all writings to be complete and total shit and bang my head against a wall for a few hours. Sleep on it a few nights; it'll get better and write itself eventually.

I have to agree. I mean if I were writing, which I have no talent for, I would probably want the last chapter to be absolutely perfect and would probably get blocked. I am sure it will be great. I have yet to be dissapointed in any of what you write.

Oh, you can find most of the episodes with Romana I at youtube. In the last two weeks I have watched Ribos Operation and The Pirate Planet. Since you are a little blocked, I am thinking tonight maybe I will visit youtube and watch The Stones Of Blood. After I read other fanfic of course and watch Dancing WIth the Stars. I highly recommend The Pirate Planet, though. The Doctor has some thoroughly hysterical moments.

I've been a horrible reader and haven't given any feedback either here or on Teaspoon. Mea Culpa. I've been reading since part one and realized today that I've left NOTHING.

This has been a wonderful story. I've loved following the progression of the characters. Through a very stressful time of year at work, my daily hit of Wolf Moon has become a bright point in the day. I actually have you bookmarked on my iPhone so I can check from work and get a fix. :)

As someone who does daily inspirational writing for a fitness community, I know what a pain in the neck it is when the muse wanders off. I hope your muse finds the end of Wolf Moon soon. I look forward to my next visit with Nine and Rose.

Again, thank you so much for the small gift you give folks like me. It's just a story, but that brief escape from reality can make a huge difference in the day.

And here I am envying you your productivity - I'm still stuck on something from New Year's - I don't even know why. I know where I want to go. I've got everyone in formal wear in the most decadent place on earth since the late Romans, and they're just standing there, no matter how hard I poke.

I have no advice, really, but pushing it rarely works for me. Since you're writing sequels, perhaps realizing that this isn't really the end but the end of the beginning? /Churchill

Hmmm. You say you might not want it to end? Could that be because this is one of the most amazing things ever posted on here or on Teaspoon? Go figure! Be nicer to yourself, and please stop banging your head on the wall.*hands you ice pack* You have been writing this brilliantly and I am sure you will soon decide what you want to do to end this delightful story. Just reading (maybe even this fic) and watching classic Who sounds like an excellent plan till those plot bunnies suddenly sneak up on you. *applauds all your hard work*

I gave up for today. I'll try again tomorrow. It's not that it's bad. It's that it just isn't quite right. I've had a few chapters like that which have required several rewrites before I was happy with them but for the most part I've really been lucky with this story and it has just flowed out of me like magic. I just need to find the magic again. Maybe I'll dream it out tonight, sometimes that happens and it really works to break the block.

I think it'll come. It's just taking some time. Inspiration will hit, though, it always does.

I plan to watch all the rest of the Key to Time and then all the other Romana eppies in order. I'll have to check youtube out. But I like the extras so I usually get Who stuff from Netflix.

For me, it's the most amazing thing I've ever had in my head, the most amazing thing I've ever put down on paper (er...computer screen), it has just been this amazing thing from beginning to end and it's a huge part of me and I don't want to say good-bye to it. But I won't be really. I'll just be moving on to the next book in the series. I need to focus on that and get to it, I suppose.
