Well, I Like It

I have quite enjoyed the last two episodes of Doctor Who. I may not give a rip as to the mystery of Clara, but I like Clara and I like Jenna no matter which Clara she is playing.

Better yet, I really like the Doctor. I am enjoying Eleven in ways I barely ever did before. He is not coming across as a complete and total idiot, he is coming across as smart and somewhat absent-minded and sweetly affectionate and really, really happy. Since they aged him quite a bit I imagine he's had some chance to get over the Ponds and learn to enjoy life again.

I wish that this was the Eleven we had been given from the start. There were brief moments of it, but this is how he should be.

I won't get into all the recycled plot stuff. That's just Moffat's Who and always will be. And I think people are stretching by looking at Clara through Rose-colored glasses. I don't really think that's going on at all, nothing Bad Wolfie. Clara is definitely her own person (or people?), and she seems pretty normal if you ignore the whole mystery thing. She's excited and thrilled to be travelling and she's not got some lame crush on the Doctor. She throws herself into the alien environment and tries not to let it scare her. She's brave and she's fun. And most important of all, she's well-written (at least so far). I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season.

P.S. I don't get the whole TARDIS doesn't like Clara thing. Clara said maybe it was that when the doors wouldn't open, but it has always taken a key to open the TARDIS for a companion. Clara didn't have a key, therefore the TARDIS didn't open. Not sure why the TARDIS was not translating languages, but I still don't think it was because it didn't like Clara.

Someone on Tumblr mashed up some scenes of Jack and Clara, about them both being impossible and how the TARDIS doesn't like Jack or Clara. Not sure that's anything, but... again with Moffat repeating every thing ever.

Eleven is definitely improving with time. I am so glad!

I was wondering why the TARDIS wasn't translating all the species' languages. She was obviously doing it for some as Clara understood some of the characters, i.e. Merry Gejelh, and not others. Sometimes I think the Moff does things just for an effect. Maybe he thought it was funny to have the Doctor and Clara 'bark' at an alien? I just keep watching and carry on :)

You are right about the key. I thought I had missed the part where the Doctor had given Clara a key to the TARDIS. Maybe he had gone to her 5th birthday party and given her a TARDIS key as a present ;)

Jenna is brilliant. She does a great job as Clara. I'm not too interested in the grand mystery of Clara.

I do notice a change when you bring it up about Eleven.

I really like that the part Clara being so good with children. Eleven is brilliant with children. The story of Clara's mother explains a lot about why she's a nanny in this timeline. The other Clara in the future was making a cake thing for her mother's birthday. Still not sure if they are the same person or different versions of the same person living out different possible timelines within the same universe.

I think a lot of people are pushing it with Rose stuff. I love call backs and mirrored scenes, but I want each companion to be there own person (not copy of someone else or someone else storyline). For all RTD's faults he created three very different female companions and two very different male companions. Plus everyone on Sarah Jane characters. IMO there is no need to try to make Clara into something Rose like even it's just the bad wolf thing. I know a lot of people want to see their believed characters mentioned and want to see things as such, but it can take away from the current companion. Like when Clara was telling the Doctor off for not living in memory of ghost and he looked shame faced. I thought "he's thinking of Martha and Rose!", but it's more likely he was thinking of other Clara and feeling guilting for keeping things from her.

You're right that Clara didn't have key and that could be why it didn't open for her. The whole language thing was weird. I think the writers were going more for a joke then the TARDIS liking or dislike Clara. There has been times before when the TARDIS hasn't translated everything when the Doctor specks the language of people in question.

I'm starting to like Clara too, and to not actively dislike Eleven, which is one hell of an improvement in my case, lol

As for the TARDIS not liking her, I don't understand why some are making such a fuss about this. Correct me if i'm wrong, but so far she's only opened the doors herself either from the inside, or when HE is inside himself.

If he's not there then of course we know she'd need a key, and he hasn't given her one yet, but SHE wouldn't automatically know she'd need one, as she's not come across this before. Her saying maybe it doesn't like her is just her puzzling over it surely?

Anyway, hopefully it's just that, and not some silly ploy of Moffs
