amberfocus: (Nine Rose from behind arm around)

Hugs and Moans (no it's not smut, so stop it, you know who you are)

I need hugs.  Specifically Doctor/Rose hugs.  I'm looking for your very favorite hugging icons.  If my readers would be so lovely as to respond to this post with their favorite Nine/Rose or Ten/Rose or both hug icons, I would be so very, very happy.  Thanks, lovies.

And also, is it evil of me to wish a life changing event on Stephen Moffat that prevents him from manning the helm of Doctor Who in 2010?  Because he's moving right up there in the want to slap him even more than RTD line, but for a far better reason.  Does he really have to insult Rose?  Does he not like the female portion of the fandom?  *grumbles*  Something akin to dropping him in a deep dark hole and only allowing him out to write one brilliant episode a year (like Blink) and making him stay in there if he tries to introduce another love interest would be good.  This is why:

At this point I wouldn't even be adverse to him winning the lottery if it meant he'd stay away from Who and stop Rose bashing.

You know, I don't get this need for him to be alone and miserable. The series is better when he's happy. He doesn't have to be perfectly happy, but I loved most of season 4 when he had Donna and they were silly and enjoying life. It was goofy and fun and the best of Who is always fun. Yes, there should be thrills and chills as well, but it needn't be always in the dark. There's a reason season 3 is so uneven and uncomfortable and it's not Martha Jones. It's emo!Ten.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
Probably.

I don't know. He's always saying things and then saying he was just kidding. Tends to be a defense mechanism in people who don't want to own up to their insults, in my experience.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:05 am (UTC)(link)
Me, neither. And Nine was far more needy than Rose when they met. There's a difference between loving someone and wanting to be with them and the way he seems to use the word neediness.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
He just says so many things that he later backs out of in these little interviews by saying he was joking and it rankles with me. It's very disrespectful to me for a man who makes his living off of Who to constantly make snarky comments. I really don't like the way he writes most women. I had real issues with the pretty girl who was stupid in Silence in the Library and then when he made her ugly her IQ went up. Or what he did to Donna. Take her out of the one episode and then plant her a fake life, again the marriage and children perfect life.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
I agree completely.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. I feel like he doesn't believe in continuity at all. And I don't like how he seems to push the companions out of the way in favor of his own creations dominating the episode.

I think Moffat is forgetting that this is a family show and that kids epsecially don't get off on wallowing in misery. They want to be happy.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:13 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I just said almost the same thing to your comment above. But yes. I so agree.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, me, too. Sort of.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, love that icon.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I am so freaking sick of the Daleks, don't even get me started on them. I've never liked them, never gotten what the fuss was about. So they're a little more bling now and can go all floaty, but how many times can you wipe them from existence and have them come back? It's ridiculous.

I wish desperately they would write more Nine/Rose books. There were not enough. There weren't even enough Ten/Rose books.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
Lovely icon.

I know the Sun isn't the best, but the thing is, he is always making these snarky comments, even on DWC and then backpeddaling and I just get so tired of it. I think he's the needy one, has a need for attention.

I don't like him writing all these love interests either. The Doctor is not an intergalactic playboy.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it does. Thanks. *grins*

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
*grins* Thanks for all the lovely hugs.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
More of a hold than a hug, but I like it!

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:22 am (UTC)(link)
Close enough!

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's a very, very good look he's giving her.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
Hee. Ah, action figure hugs. That is so cute.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
Okay. *smiles* He jokes a lot in this same negative fashion. That's what gets me when he says things like this and then "takes them back." Just frustrates me to have a man like that in charge of this show. Lovely icon, thanks.

I'm much fonder of Nine/Rose, though that may just be the writing. Here's a thought - make one of your series canon-compliant and submit it (to the Beeb) as a novel! :P

[identity profile] katecarter.livejournal.com 2008-08-08 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
I talked this over with Kathryn Shadow on Facebook and we're very irritated. She pointed out that River is WAY needier than Rose. So's Jack, and Martha...Rose is Miss "Hey, that looks interesting, let's wander that way" and how can you define that as needy?!

However, Billie Piper's pregnancy was news to us, so yay for her.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-09 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, they really are. I mean, Rose has had her needy moments, but that's all they are. Moments. There's a lot more need in all of the other characters and in the Doctor himself.

[identity profile] amberfocus.livejournal.com 2008-08-09 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
I wish! But my stories are far too adult to make them canon compliant. Weeeelll, maybe not Just Another Shop Girl, but that'd be the only one.

Catching up on my massive LJ backlog, and I'm amazed no one has offered this hug yet, even though it was cut out. It was so... overpowering.

A moving version:

And some others...

Oh, I love these, especially the first one. Probably my favorite all time hug. I wish they'd kept it in. It was so nice.

I've wondered if they didn't use it because of how good it is. CE doesn't hold back, and although it's supposed to be him protecting Rose, he is so vulnerable in that moment. It's even disturbingly sensual in the way that he buries his face against her neck and she goes limp, her legs reaching up around his thigh/hips. I was just reading someone whining because CE called DW "a children's show" - well, honestly, it is, at least it's for families which include children, and he took it because he wanted to act for children. But he didn't act down to them at all. I'm a firm believer that children "get it" even if they don't understand it all until much later. I know that happened with me.
