Fic Update
Don't you just hate it when you're trying to further the plot and all your main characters want to do is shag? *sighs* Honestly, there they were sitting innocently, well, not totally innocently, on the couch and the next thing I know Rose makes a suggestion and Jonathon is tugging Rose back into the bedroom. I was all "You two need to have a serious conversation," and they were all "But we just wanna have sex!" And I was like, "Plot, there's supposed to be a furtherance of the plot here. Or at least some character development!" And they were looking at me like I was crazy and telling me that could certainly wait and be tucked in at the end of the chapter.
Shakes head. I may have to do some reorganizing and put the "serious" conversation in at the beginning now that I've at least written the smut. Anyway, as it stands, A Sky Without Zeppelins chapter 26 is at 2752 words. Which means likely another 800 to 1000 to finish up the chapter. I might manage to finish it tonight, have it beta'd and ready for morning, but I'm not making any guarantees.
I sent the (hopefully) final draft of Body Paint, my Hearts in Time ficathon fic, off to Amy this morning. I meant to send it last night but forgot to actually do the copy and paste to the email. *shakes head* Obviously I need more sleep. I decided to change Jack's dialog a bit, even if he's only in the fic for all of 2 seconds, he was coming off as a jerk. Now TW Jack may be a bit of a jerk at times, but season one DW Jack wasn't really one at all, he was more concerned and sweet really once he'd settled in with them. Added in about another 100 words, too, mostly just polishing and getting in Nine's head a bit more as he deals with the awkward situation between himself and Rose.
I wasn't sure if I was going to mention this or not, but decided I may as well.
azriona told me I got nominated for something called a Children in Time award for my fics Wolf Moon and A Sky Without Zeppelins. That was kinda neat. Lots of lovely fics on the list, including ones from some of my favorite authors. So to whoever nominated my fics, I just want to say thank you. I'm honored to be in such lovely company on the nominee list.

Writing it helped me discover one thing or the other about them, however, so in hind-sight I can say that the story benefited from this excursion into the future.
Plus -- sometimes it can be really good for the story when the characters take over. They are real in your imagination, and they know what's best for their story; all we are is their medium to let the world know.
Weird, I know.

A lot of my stories like to write themselves. Which is fine most of the time. Well, really, all of the time because I do end up giving in to those stubborn little muses.

"But I let you have Inara in OOJ! Inara. Doesn't that count for anything?"
"Fade-to-black, sweetheart."
"And I threw Captain Eirek at you in 'The Lesson.'"
"As a punchline! When do I get to do the dirty with Nine and Rose? Or even just one? You got Rose and me started in 'The Season of Mists,' which you haven't touched in months."
*Sigh* Impossible, the lot of them. Plus, I need to hunt down that "Maestro" muse again. Maybe if I promised the Master a hot threesome with Lucy and Rose . . .
Nah. If I did that and didn't follow through, I'd never hear the end of it.

I think that's a thumb's up all around here. :)
(Is that one you can share? Pretty please? I have no Jack icon, and yours is the first I can imagine ever using. The only man who can get BBC to apologize over his dropping trow on the radio. I mean, really. I think the BBC apologizes for Barrowman at the drop of a pin now. It's good for the, doncha agree? Keeps 'em on their toes. They're so easily embarrassed I think JB does these things just because he knows someone on floor 6 is having a small stroke every time he's is scheduled for a live interview. Heh.)

(Well, you're the author, but still.)
So let 'em at each other. Doesn't mean we have to see it.

Very true. Why do you think I went crack-happy after finishing Pages? Egad, the angst!

Honestly? Don't see a problem with that. No siree not a all. You see what you have to remember is that the best fics write themselves and tell YOU where they need to go. So if your main characters just want to shag for the next 30 or so chapters, then you really should go with it.....
;-)
Oh well it was worth a try!
