Long Day But...
I finished my ficathon fic for Hearts in Time so now there is nothing between me and finshing the next Zeppelins chapter. Actually I'm quite pleased with how Body Paint turned out. I was making a concentrated effort not to let it devolve into smut and keep it hurt/comfort and sweet. I might have to write a sequel to it from Rose's point of view (this one is Nine's) eventually that does devolve into smut. It's in the hopper with everything else. I definitely think it shows the More than Friends theme. Least I hope so.
I was unaccoutably nervous because this is the first time I've signed up for anything on LJ. I'm not good with deadlines. Or as Douglas Adams once said, "I like the sound they make as they go rushing past." I figured having a whole month to "have to" write something would mean I could manage to get it done. And I did. Really silly, when I can normally crank out 1500 to 3000 words a day if I sit down and do it. 5000 if I don't mind if some of it is crap.
I really, really liked the prompt I signed up for and immediately was bit by a plot bunny. Was bit before I signed up for it even. And actually the first 1500 words did come fairly easily. Then I added a few paragraphs a week and then in one last burst I finished up with 1000 or so words. It clocks in at 3548 words, a nice reasonable length for a oneshot. So I'm happy.
There's an optional (because of the holiday weekend) rehearsal for the Nutcracker tonight. Chris is taking Tobias and I'm going to stay home with Rose (unless she decides she wants to go) and write. I will be so glad when the 9th comes and the show is over. T is having a blast with it and honestly, it's not every eight-year-old who gets asked to be in a ballet (he didn't even have to audition, the owner of the studio simply asked if he could do it), but it's just such a time commitment. I don't know if we'll do this type of thing again, but he'll have the memories from it and the DVD and that's something he'll always get to look back on.
