Day 11: Your Dream Pairing
I've been in love with the characters of Samantha Brady and Lucas Roberts (later Horton) from the moment they met. Allison Sweeney was only 15 years old and Bryan Datillo barely legal, but already they displayed a remarkable chemistry well beyond their years that embued Lucas and Sami with the kind of spark I've only seen one other time with the original pairing of Elizabeth Webber and Lucky Spencer on GH. They sizzled on screen in a way that I'm sure the PTB at Days never intended and if the show had been smart enough to throw them into a romance together from the start instead of trying to make a useless quadrangle with Carrie and Austin, they'd have been at the top of the ratings game all the way through.
Lucas and Sami have done a lot of horrible things together and apart, always scheming and dreaming for bigger things, but it wasn't until they came together as the soul mates that they are and finally admitted that they loved each other that I finally felt my show was doing right by me. Even at the worst, even when they hated each other, they were there for each other when they were needed most. They overcame it because always buried under the bitterness was this amazing, raging passionate love that only needed the correct writing to let it out.
Sami and Lucas are the two halves of each others whole. Much like Chuck and Blair on Gossip Girl, when they are happy and in love they make each other better people and the world a better place. But when they're apart, watch all hell break loose.
