They finally move forward, although, like you said, they could move backward too. There's still quite a long way ahead them. Yay for all of them! Yay for Jack for he's a good man and a good friend, yay for Rose for her determination and her love, yay for The Doctor for he finally accepts the baby and is willing to try things out (although it took him long enough). I hope you'll make it easier for them. They've been through quite a lot. Can't wait for the next chappie...
