Getting Serious for a Moment--DW Fanfic Writers Please Read

Hey, everyone, I'd like to make a special request from the DW fanfic writers on my f-list.  A friend of mine has told me about a little boy in her life that is eight years old.  A year ago he lost his legs and he will never be able to use artificial legs.  He will be confined to a wheelchair for life and he's had a really, really hard time adapting to his situation.  He adores Doctor Who and Rose Tyler in particular.  He's only seen seasons one and two, but it's the one thing that is helping a little bit.

My friend asked if there was anyone I knew who would be willing to write a Doctor Who story for this little boy, using a character of a heroic little boy named Jack confined to some sort of fancy space age wheelchair, perhaps a flying one, who joins the Doctor and Rose for an adventure.  I write adult romance (very adult, usually) and do not feel like writing for younger children is the sort of thing I can tackle myself.  I was hoping there would be someone who could tackle doing a story like this.

There is so much talent and heart in the Doctor/Rose shipping community.  I've seen the outpouring of it before for Stacie and for disaster victims.  Is there anyone who thinks they are up for this?  Or more than one person?  I'm sure one story would be awesome, but more than one would be fantastic.

I'd also like to ask that this request be spread throughout your f-lists.  The more that people know about it, the better chance we'll have of at least one story to help lift this child's spirits.

Thank you for sharing this. I'm taking three classes this summer, so don't know if I'll be able to write anything. But I'm going to think on it a bit and see if anything comes to mind. I'm touched by the story and would like to help. At the very least, I'd be happy to beta any stories that anybody else writes. And I'll be reposting your entry to my journal, as well.

So far all I know is that he loves Rose, he's seen all of season one and a few of season two, and he adores Star Wars. I'm hoping for more details, but of course my friend wants to protect his privacy as well.

Kiddie lit is my main calling, but I am in possession of a most fickle muse. I'm willing to see what I can shake loose for a good cause though. ;)

The next two weeks will be nightmarish with school ending (and I thought homeschooling would be calmer). Is there any timeline for this?

I think end of the school year is even more crazy whe you homeschool. It feels that way to me anyway.

Hello! I saw this from the doctorwho comm and I love writing stories for little kids. Is there a time frame on this because I didn't have any ideas immediately jump to mind but I'm sure if I let it sit something will come up. Two questions though, is his preference Nine/Rose or Ten/Rose, or doesn't it matter? I usually write for Ten rather than Nine.

Also, does he happen to have the toys of the Doctor and Rose?

I know a gal who for a small fee would print and bind these fics into a book for this little guy. If we could scrape up a few dollars here and there, I don't think it would cost more than $50-75 to get it printed/bound in color VERY nicely done. Just a suggestion if you want me to look into it?

As nice an idea as that is, I think I'd like to keep asking for money entirely out of the picture. It changes things legally on what you can do. Plus, I feel incredibly uncomfortable bringing money into the situation. I'd rather people give of their time than money. But thank you for the suggestion. I will consider doing it myself when this is over. So, yes, find out the details, but just for me.
