Update on My Eye

So I got in to see the doctor this morning and I have an infected eyelid gland, which is why one of my eyes currently resembles Quasimodo's. *hint, it's not the open one* Anyway, I had the fun of having to go to two pharmacies. I went to my regular one and they had the oral antibiotic, but not the steriod/antibiotic eye drops. The soonest they could get it in would be tomorrow, which would have meant delaying treatment another day and I already went through the entire weekend like this, which was not fun.

So then I had to run over to Walgreens. I hate Walgreens pharmacy. There's a reason why I use a small pharmacy. It took forever and of course I didn't have my insurance card because all that info is stored in the computer at my regular pharmacy. Thing is, I never take my insurance card out of my wallet so I don't know where it is. All I can think is that Chris took it out when he took one of the kids to the doctor when I was sick, and didn't put it back, but that doesn't explain why the dental card is missing, too. They should both be in there together.

Then the tech there gives me a total of $17 so I wrote out the check, but then she goes to ring it up and it's less than that and she didn't want to give me the change back because the pharmacy isn't supposed to take checks for over the amount. It was less than a dollar, but by that point it was her snotty attitude and the principle of the thing that made me insist on it. Seriously, I would have just written another check, but they'd already run it and didn't want to give it back. The pharmacist just told her to give me my change and knock it off since she'd given me the wrong number to begin with. Go pharmacist! And also, I'm not against pharmacy techs, there are two fantastic ones at my regular pharmacy. I just didn't care for this one.

So anyway I finally got home and put the drops in my eye and it at least feels better. It'll be a while before the swelling goes down, but I should see improvement by tonight. Here's hoping.

at least you know what it is now, and treatment is under-way, this is all good.

you really do seem to be a little jinxed so far this year though love *hugs*

hopefully this is the last thing for a while

That sounds really painful D: I hope the swelling and pain goes down soon, and that the medication kicks in fast!

And that tech sounds obnoxious.

Sympathies! It is amazing how much an eye infection or laceration can hurt. Hope the drops work fast for you.

Eye vey.

(sorry, couldn't resist!)

Seriously, I hope that the drops work mega-fast!

Re pharmacies, I've actually been very happy with our local Walgreens - we've used them since before the kids were even born. Which of course meant that we had to switch to CVS this year, due to some flap between Walgreens and AvMed. CVS has NOT been an enjoyable experience. I agree with you about local pharmacies, but between my long med list and my traveling, it's better to have a pharmacy with national coverage.

Yikes! I've had that before, and it is no picnic.

Feel better soon!!!

That sounds so painful and something that affects everything that you do. I hope that the medicine works well. Put the drops in the fridge so that they're not only preserved better (for future attacks, too), but the cool drops are extra soothing, too. I hope that you're feeling much better soon.

That sounds so awful! I'm glad you were able to get the medication quickly, even if you did have to deal with a thoroughly unpleasant tech.

Hope you feel better soon! *hugs*

Yeah I avoid Walgreens when I can. I use Costco as my pharmacy. I know they are a warehouse store but they have a program for people without access to prescription insurance and if you are a member they knock some more off. With the Super dooper Biggie membership you get 2% of everything you spend during the year back as a gift certificate right before you renew. But the best thing is despite being a "big" store, the pharmacist starts pulling my prescriptions when he sees us walk down the aisle. When Paul left the hospital after his heart attack and there were problems with his prescription the guy stayed on the phone until he got it fixed. I mean really stayed on the phone, he did not give them the option of calling him back. But the best thing is when he calls and talks to our respective docs and says these people can't afford this med but there is an alternative that has a generic....

I would have been lost without those guys in the last 2 years. Sounds like your small pharmacy guys are cut from the same cloth.

Glad your eye is feeling better.
