amberfocus: (You're What?)

So...umm...

...my right eye has swollen shut again like it did two months ago. Same hot pink line above the upper lash line that then jags off towards the bridge of my nose. Nothing wrong with the eye itself, it's completely white and bloodshot free. It's just the eyelid, which is puffed up to three times its normal size. Last time it went away in about 72 hours with ice packs. I thought it was a spider bite or something last time, but it's identical this time. Same eye. The eyelid hurts if I squeeze the lids together. No discharge, no crusties. I just don't understand why it's doing this. I am going to try to get in to see the doctor tomorrow for it, since it's not just a fluke thing.

Needless to say I didn't work on writing today, so I didn't finish my final draft of the last chapter of You're What? Which means it likely won't be finished until Tuesday or Wednesday now. *sighs* I will finish it this week though for sure, one eyed or not.

You poor thing! Definitely get that checked out. That sounds very odd!

Hope that the doctor can diagnose it and give you something to heal it up right away and keep it from ever coming back! Feel better, hon! *hugs* ♥♥♥

Oh dear. I hope the doctor will find the reason and that it's nothing serious...

It's possible it's a form of stye - I used to get them all the time, mostly from stress.

Either way, instead of just a hot compress, try a hot (not too hot) teabag. Yes, a teabag. The tannins in the tea (the Doctor wasn't joking when he said it's good for you) actually are good for drawing out inflammation. I learned this trick from a country doctor in PA, looked it up, and sure enough there's medical back for it.

So, take a regular teabag (not herbal), dunk it in as hot water as you can handle (it cools off fast, anyway), squeeze out extra liquid but leave it soggy, and slap it on that eyelid for a bit. Repeat for the next 20 min. Do that several times before you see the doctor and see if it helps. If it doesn't go away soon, though, don't screw with your eyesight: see someone for it.

The only non-herbal tea I have is Earl Gray. Will that do?

Yes, Earl Grey would work - it's a "black" tea, which is all that matters (green tea has almost no tannins, and herbals have none at all).

That sounds dreadful and completely baffling! I hope it turns out to be an allergy to something mundane like yogurt.

Keep us posted!

Oh, Hun, I'm so sorry about your eye.

I hope the doctor is able to figure out what's going on.

BIG HUGS
