30 Day Love Meme

Day 14:  What is your favorite book pairing?

I didn't even have to think about this one.  It is and probably always will be Brekke and F'nor from the Dragonriders of Pern series.  When brown dragon rider F'nor falls hopelessly in love with Queen dragon rider Brekke, he crosses many lines, for Queens only mate with bronzes, and their riders follow that mating instinct.  Brekke, young and raised in a crafthall with different mores is new to the weyr and doesn't understand all the traditions.  She only understands what's in her heart and that's F'nor.  When the time comes for her young queen to rise in a mating flight, F'nor hopes to break with tradition and let his brown rise as well, but disaster strikes when Kylara, the head queen rider of High Reaches weyr, has not taken her dragon away far enough, and her queen was close to rising too.  Triggered by the other dragon's mating flight, Kylara's dragon rises and it's a fight to the death for the two queens.  F'nor must pick up the pieces of a shattered Brekke's life when both queens die.  Kylara loses her mind from the loss and Brekke nearly suicides, but the tender, sweet love of F'nor brings her back from the brink and ever so slowly helps her to heal and live again.

Day 15:  Your favorite real life pairing.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson.  A strong Hollywood marriage that has defied all of the odds.

Day 16:  What is your absolute worst pairing?

I had to think about this for a while.  There aren't many couples I hate, and only a few that I don't really like.  I suppose the one I like the least is Marlena and John from Days of Our Lives.  I never bought it that she would turn her back on Roman once she knew the truth.  And I really hated the way she acted when she was married to Roman and having an affair with John and the effect it has on a teenaged Sami who saw them.  Probably the only other one that I dislike as much as this is the pairing of EJ and (a now grown up) Sami.  I can't get behind any pairing when one partner forces the other to have sex in order to save their true loves' life.  I just can't.  You can say they have chemistry and passion or whatever, and the actors do, but no...it just doesn't work for me.
