The Boundaries of Temptation (5/6 yes, really)

Title:  The Boundaries of Temptation
Series:  Crossing Boundaries (#3)
Author:  [info]amberfocus
Characters/Pairings:  Nine/Rose, Ten, Donna, Jackie
Genre:  Romance, Angst, Smut (of the needy, possessive, dominant!Nine variety in a later chapter)
Rating:  Adult
Betas: [info]amyo67, [info]jeprdyfrndly
Summary:  Rose has a wedding to attend and the Doctor doesn't want to go, nor is he ready to come out to Rose's mother about their relationship as lovers.  The Tenth Doctor, still reeling from the loss of Rose and desperately wanting to see her again after one brief hour meddling in his own past, decides that the wedding will be a perfect place to steal time with her again, but Donna isn't so sure.
A/N:  After dropping Donna off, Rose and Nine have a few things to talk about.  Part of this chapter is not appropriate for work or to be read around children.  Chapter five just got too long so I've split it into two parts.  But six will be the last chapter.  Honest.  Then I'll finish the next chapter of HM.

Chapter Five:  Validation of Relationships

Donna turned and waved, but she didn’t look happy. She looked worried; worried about them and worried about her Doctor. And furious at being left by a man she’d trusted more than anyone in the world. She’d been reluctant to go, too. She’d thought they’d go right after the other man, find him, stop him. She’d had quite a lot to say when the Doctor had refused.

Rose felt a little guilty. She hadn’t wanted to go anywhere near the man she’d known as John. Maybe she really would love that version of the Doctor some day and maybe it would be with an intensity that matched how she felt about him now. But at the moment it was still too much to deal with and she and her proper Doctor had far too much to talk about.

Rose waved back and then she and the Doctor walked inside the TARDIS and she sat down heavily on the jump seat. She was still overwhelmed from the day’s events. She hadn’t been too happy about the fact that the Doctor had taken advantage of the drunken state her mother had gotten into after the encounter and erased all of Jackie’s memories following the reception. It had been a necessity she supposed, but that didn’t mean she liked it.

The Doctor sent them spinning into the Time Vortex and she let out a long sigh. “I still can’t get my head around the fact that that was you,” Rose said, then trying to make a joke of it added, “I mean, he liked dancing.”

The Doctor tapped something into the keyboard and soft music filled the console room. “I like dancing well enough,” he said pulling her up and into his arms. “Just not with an audience. And I especially don’t like sharing you,” he said. “Future me or not.”

“Well, you have to a bit. Mum says you promised to take me home twice a week for visits,” she said.

“Every two weeks!” the Doctor protested in surprise. Rose grinned as he realized he’d been well and truly caught. It was clear he’d been hoping to skirt around that. “And it only has to be every two weeks for her, not every two weeks for us. She won’t know the…” He trailed off at Rose’s expression.

“I miss my mum,” she said firmly. “And I didn’t even get a real visit with her this time because of…well, I suppose because of you.”

“Rose, you have to know there was something wrong with him,” he said pushing her back slightly so he could look her in the eyes.

“Yeah, he’d cracked. Guess living without me was—.”

“Not something I even want to think about!” the Doctor said pulling her back into him. “But it was more than that. I can theorize it was something that happened to him with the Ood, or it might have been before that. I had a word with Donna while you were sleeping. There was an incident with another Time Lord shortly before she started traveling with him.”

“I thought they were all gone.”

“I thought so, too. Apparently one made himself human and hid out at the end of the universe,” he said.

“You can do that? Become a human?” Rose asked.

“I can, but I wouldn’t want to.” At her offended look he said, “It hurts, Rose. Worse than regeneration gone wrong. Anyway, the thing with this other Time Lord, it didn’t end well. The man was in his mind a lot, torturing him.”

“Torturing him?” Rose’s eyes went wide. “I thought you were pacifists.”

“I was a soldier, Rose.”

“Yeah, but that was because of the Daleks—.”

“That was because some of us were different. We were quite capable of…well, this man, the Master…he was quite mad. And he turned that Doctor’s mind inside out. He told Donna that the only thing that got him through it was thinking about you. You were his light in the darkness, his focus. It kept him sane.”

“Didn’t seem too sane to me,” Rose said tartly.

“Yes, well, if I lost you…” he said and tightened his arms around her, not saying anything further. They swayed to the music for a while and then Rose couldn’t keep quiet any longer. Something had been bothering her since the other man had announced it back at the hotel.

“You’re gonna die,” she said against his chest. “I’m gonna lose you. Soon.”

“Not if I can help it,” he said. “I don’t care what I have to do.”

“What about…well, isn’t that just doing what he did?” she asked.

“If he can break the rules—.”

“No, Doctor.” She pushed away from him. “If I’ve learned anything from you, from this, it’s that we can’t.”

“And if I don’t I’ll end up like him. The universe does not need that man let loose on it,” he said grimly.

“What are you thinking, Doctor? We can’t alter time. You know that. Remember what happened with my dad? With the Reapers? You nearly left me over it.”

“No, I didn’t,” he said. “I just lost my temper, is all. I’d never have left you.”

“Really?”

“Of course I wouldn’t have. Rose, I…I love you. Thought you knew that,” he said gruffly.

“After today I have no more doubts,” she said.

“Because that man showed up acting like that?” he asked horrified.

“No,” she said putting a hand to his mouth and shushing him. “No, because you told my mum we were together.” She dropped her hand and hugged him. “And you finally said it to me. You’ll never know how much that means. I’ve loved you for so long. And because you didn’t let him take me. I know he’s you. I know I probably would have been safe, but—.”

“You’re mine,” he growled. “And I want every single minute that’s allotted to me.” He held her so tightly that for a moment she couldn’t breathe. She pushed back lightly from him.

“Guess that means you’ll be coming ‘round to Mum’s with me when I go then?” she asked cheekily.

He gave her a sour look. “Guess it does at that.”

“Really?” she asked incredulously. She’d honestly been joking, knowing the way he felt about her mother.

“I don’t know how much time we have left together, Rose. I’m not going to spend one minute of it with you out of my sight if I can help it,” he said. “Even if that means putting up with Jackie Tyler. She’ll be insufferable now she knows we’re together.”

“Well, you can’t blame me for that,” Rose said a bit stiffly. “I may have wanted her to know, but I didn’t tell her. I wasn’t the one ashamed to tell her.”

The Doctor pushed Rose away from him and held her hands, looking straight into her eyes. “Is that really what you think? That I am ashamed of being with you, Rose?” She looked down and he had to drop one hand to tilt her face back up and look her in the eyes.

“I know I’m less than you—.”

“Rose Tyler, you are not!”

“What about all your superior Time Lord physiology and me being just a stupid ape?  I’m—.”

“Every bit as good as I am,” he interrupted before she could go forward. “And I’m sorry I ever called you that. I was wrong.”

“What?” Her mouth dropped open in surprise. Those were not words she’d ever expected to hear out of the Doctor’s mouth.

“You are the most fantastic woman I have ever known and how you could think anything less after everything we’ve been to each other…” He frowned at her fiercely.

“But you never said. Not once. Just the opposite. How am I supposed to know? I’m not telepathic. And you didn’t want to tell my mum.”

“Didn’t want to deal with her. Guess it gave you the wrong idea,” he said sheepishly.

“What is the right idea?” she asked. He was quiet for so long that she dropped her eyes from his and pulled away. She sighed heavily and turned to head off for their room, thinking it was another dead end conversation that was getting too personal for him. It wouldn’t be the first time. His next words stopped her dead.

“I want you to be my mate.”

She turned back to him, confused and uncertain, her heart beating very fast. Did he mean what she thought he meant. “What do you mean by mate?”

“Time Lord’s mate for life, Rose. When we decide we’re ready, when we choose a partner, that’s it until death. And you’ve just experienced that with me it goes beyond this body’s death. Okay, maybe he was a bit…”

“Off his nut?”

“Yes. But I’m not. I am completely sane when I say I want this with you. You are not just my best friend. You are my…you are everything, Rose Tyler, and don’t you dare ever doubt me!” he said ferociously. “You need to know it here,” he touched her forehead, “and here.” His hand slipped down to cover her heart, lingering on her breasts. “You are mine.”

“Are you mine?” she asked wiping sudden tears away from her face. Even though they’d said this much before, she’d still been unsure.

“You know I am. Every beat of my hearts belongs to you,” he said, his thumb finding a watery trail and smoothing it into her skin. She felt her stomach do a slow flip at his words; at his touch.

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

“So what do you say? Is this something you want? Even knowing it won’t be forever…do you want to make this more permanent, Rose?” He looked so nervous. She’d never seen him look so anxious before. It was a huge decision to suddenly be thrust upon her, knowing how soon she might lose him, but there was only one answer she could ever give to such a question.

“Course I do. I never want to leave you.”

He broke into a smile. “That’s settled then.” He closed the distance between them and kissed her gently then hugged her again. His eyes darkened and she didn’t need his next words to know what he was thinking. “Let’s go to bed.”

Rose nodded at him and let him pull her down the corridor to their bedroom. “I’d like to shower first. I feel like he’s still…all over me.”

“Good idea. You smell of him,” the Doctor admitted. “I know he’s me, but it’s just different enough to raise my hackles and interfere with the process.”

“Process?”

“It’s gonna be different this time. Go, shower. I’ll explain it all when you get out.”

He helped her strip off the fancy dress. She looked at it ruefully. “I loved this dress. Now, I don’t ever want to see it again.”

“Easy enough,” said the Doctor scooping it up and tossing it in the laundry chute. “I’ll make sure the TARDIS makes it disappear.”

She nodded and walked into the bathroom in her bra and knickers. She emerged a few minutes later in a red and gold silk kimono, her hair wrapped in a towel. She sat down in front of the mirror and the Doctor unwrapped her head. With gentle hands he picked up a comb and gently worked through the wet strands. Rose sighed under his touch as he knelt behind her chair and slipped the kimono off one shoulder.

She tilted her head to give him better access and his lips met the skin of her neck just behind her ear. His breath was cool, giving rise to goose bumps as he kissed his way down the curve of her neck to settle against the place where it met her shoulder. His teeth scraped against her and her womb tightened while sensation flooded through her breasts, raising her nipples under the taut silk.

The Doctor’s hand slid into the opening of the garment, settling over one soft mound of flesh, his fingers gliding over the hardened bud, teasing it into further arousal. He cupped and kneaded the breast before circling back over the areola and narrowing his focus back onto the nipple. He pulled lightly, rubbing it between forefinger and thumb. Rose let out a breathy sound of approval and pulled the belt of the kimono free of its knot.

As the silk fell open the Doctor moved around in front of her, both hands on her breasts now. He slid them firmly down her body, over waist and hips and thighs, before pushing her legs apart and gliding up the silky inner skin. His fingers swept across her sex then up through her curls and over her belly before coming back down again.

“Move to the edge of the chair,” he said and Rose scooted forward. The Doctor leaned toward her and pushed her thighs further apart, then encircled her wrists with his hands, preventing her from touching him. He took a moment to inhale her scent before blowing cool air against her. She shivered and another wave of desire flashed through her. His nose brushed her clitoris making her jump a little as his tongue entered her body.

She groaned at the cleverness of his mouth against her, her arms straining to pull free and touch him, but he was having none of it, holding her wrists firmly in his vice-like grip. That always meant that he wanted to be firmly in control. It was understandable considering the day’s events and how out of his control they had been, but she ached to feel his skin under her fingertips.   Rose sighed and spread her legs still further, allowing him to dip inside her even deeper.

A few moments later he transferred his grip of her wrists to one hand, easily strong enough to restrain her that way, and his fingers replaced his tongue, which he had moved up to focus on her clit. She let out a soft whimper of pleasure as the little bundle of nerves became the focus of an all out assault. Rose squirmed under his ministrations and little flashes of heat began to pulse low in her belly. From there it was only a matter of seconds before he drove her up and over the edge, her orgasm raking through her womb with a ferocity that was almost violent. Electrical aftershocks shook her even as she tried to relax and come down from the beautiful high.

She slumped in the chair as the Doctor pulled away from her body with a smug grin. She didn’t even consider trying to wipe it off his face. He’d done more than his best with that one and he deserved to be as arrogant about it as he wanted.  He released her hands then and they fell uselessly to her sides. “Can you walk to the bed?” he asked. She just shook her head mutely. She didn’t even want to try.

The Doctor slipped the kimono the rest of the way off her arms and then picked her up like she weighed nothing and carried her over to the bed, laying her out gently on the sheets. He stepped back and she watched him with veiled eyes as he stripped off his dark green jumper and he tossed it over his shoulder. His hands went next to his belt and she caught herself holding her breath as he slid it slowly inch by inch from the belt loops of his jeans. His hand paused for just a moment on the button at the top, his eyes drilling into hers. She met his gaze evenly then licked her lips and glanced deliberately downward again.

He unbuttoned it with teasing slowness then undid the zip one tooth at a time. Rose let out a little whimper as he finally peeled the denim off and he stood there in nothing but a pair of well-fitted green boxer briefs. She eyed the bulge there hungrily but closed her eyes as she had always done for him since the first night they’d been together. It had become an automatic response.

“No, Rose,” he said. “Open your eyes.”
