Grumble, Whine--It's Recital Time

That icon is about how I felt tonight.

Ugh, dress rehearsal was a nightmare!  And of course T is third act from the end in the second half.  It took forever.  They were supposed to be done with the first half by 4:30 and told the second half kids to get there at 4:45.  They didn't even finish the first act until 5:30 and then Tobias' group didn't go on until almost seven.  I am so glad I fed him right beforehand.  As it was we were all starving by the time we got out of there and had a late dinner.

Why do they schedule little kids in the second half anyway?  They should all be in the first half.  Recital nights run until well after bedtime for a ten-year-old.  Second half should be teenagers and adults only.  Then we could leave at intermission like we could when the kids were really small and were always in the first half.

It was so ridiculously loud.  We were sitting three rows from the back of the theater and half the time I was sitting there with my fingers in my ears and I could still completely hear the music and understand all the words as if it was playing at normal volume.  I think I'm bringing cotton balls to stick in my ears for the recital.  Two more nights of this and we are done with dance until fall.  And actually we might just be done, period unless the kiddo really, really wants to continue.

I'm not even going to tomorrow's recital.  My mom and daughter are going to that one and Chris and I are going to the Saturday one.  $60 is enough to spend on theater tickets, thank you.  And I sure as heck am not volunteering to sit in the room with all the kids waiting to go on.  Fool me once...  Anyway, so Mom will be responsible for getting him there tomorrow.  Chris and I are going to spend yet another day out at the house.  The only rooms left to pack are the two bathrooms, the little laundry room and the last of the kitchen stuff.  All four bedrooms are done, and so is the living room and play room.  After that it's clean like crazy people.  And then we start on the shed.  Ugh, again.  Still we get closer and closer.  We hope to start pulling out the carpets, painting, replacing the doors and putting down new flooring by September, but I'm not holding my breath.

I hope to find time to write this weekend, but I'm not holding my breath on that, either.
