You already know I agree with this theory. *grin* But this does make sense, that the Elisabeth memories are a mask for the past traumas in the Doctor's life. And I think I knew this already, it was just the stark comparison of one love life to another that threw me off course.
But despite the fact that he loved Elisabeth, it was in some ways a marriage rushed into for perhaps not the best of reasons, of which I think you are reasonably suspicious of such reasons if I recall correctly from past discussion with you.
